Important Note: Homeowner and Repair Applications Windows Begin

Thank you for your interest in owning a Habitat for Humanity Home. There are four REQUIREMENTS to apply for a Habitat home:

1. current housing situation is inadequate, unaffordable or overcrowded
2. family gross income (before taxes) between $2,191/month and $4,480/month.
3. willing to partner with Habitat and provide 400-600 hours of “sweat equity” (volunteer hours) to the organization.
4. applicant is a US Citizen and willing to live in Hancock County.

If you DO NOT meet Habitat requirements, you will be notified within 90 days.

The Home Repair program for Habitat for Humanity is a unique, and much-needed program to serve low income families in Findlay/Hancock County. Since 2013 the program has provided a variety of home repairs and modifications with a priority placed on those that address safety, health, energy efficiency and accessibility issues. 

To qualify, families must have owned their home for at least two years and be current on their property taxes. Priority is given to veterans, seniors, and disabled homeowners. 

The application process may take up to 6 months before repairs are scheduled to begin on your home due to overwhelming demand for this program in our community. 

Our Repair program should not be considered an emergency repair service, if you are in need of immediate services, please contact a certified contractor. Outdoor repairs including roofs, ramps, and landscaping will not be completed in the months of November through February due to weather. 

Habitat for Humanity Financial Opportunity Center (FOC) services are designed to engage, educate and empower individuals and families to build a better future through self-sufficiency. 

We are accepting clients who want to build a brighter financial future. There are no income requirements, timelines, or obligations. The FOC helps you achieve success however you define it. Our financial and employment coaching provides individualized support focused on helping you achieve your short and long-term goals!

Community Outcomes (as of 12/31/2022):

• 650+ total number of individuals impacted:  200 face-to-face coaching visits – 500 hours of coaching
• 78% of clients saw an increase in their credit score – 32 points average increase of credit scores
• 65 individuals received income supports, financial, and employment coaching – $706.31 average increase in monthly net income
• 75% job placement rate – 26 individuals placed into employment
